Sesame sweet potato balls is a very easy snack to make. I learned this recipe from my mom, who learned it from her mom. Last year, she made this dish for my dad, and my dad loved it so much. When she came here, she wanted to make some for us. We all liked it, and then I learned this recipe from mom. She taught me very patiently. My mom said this is quite a popular snack in Malaysia. I am happy to post this recipe here. Hope you all like it.

How to make sweet potato sesame balls or sesame balls or jian dui:
1. Boil sweet potatoes in a saucepan for fifteen minutes or until sweet potatoes turn soft. You can also pressure cook them for three whistles by adding water such that sweet potatoes are well immersed in the water. Peel the skin and mash it up well. Set it aside to cool down.
2. In a mixing bowl, combine sweet potatoes, all purpose flour, sugar and enough water to form a smooth dough that is soft in texture but not sticky. Knead for two to three minutes. Then divide the dough into small, equal portions and roll them into balls.Coat the balls with sesame seeds.
3. Now on medium flame, heat the oil for deep frying the balls. Then deep fry the sweet potato balls till golden brown. This will take about 3 to 4 minutes. Drain the fried balls on the tissue paper to remove excess oil.
Now, sesame sweet potato balls are ready! Serve hot with tea.
