Lemon aval upma recipe, lemon poha recipe
Lemon aval upma recipe, lemon poha. A quick and tasty dish made with few ingredients like poha or aval and mild spices.
In english, aval is called beaten rice or flattened rice. In tamil, it is called as aval. In north india, it is called as poha.
Lemon aval upma is an easy south indian tiffin and has a lemony flavor. You can make this dish in a jiffy for breakfast or snack.
Lemon aval is quiet similar to lemon rice, lemon sevai etc. For this dish, I would recommend using thick aval as it does not turn soggy. You can use thin aval too but wash it before tempering otherwise it will turn soggy. You can also add roasted cashew nuts, almonds or ground nuts.
How to make lemon aval or lemon poha:
1. Soak aval in water for just 3 minutes. Soak channa dal in water for about 10 minutes.2. Heat oil in a pan and let the mustard seeds splutter. Then add urad dal, channa dal, turmeric powder, green chillies, asafoetida, and curry leaves. Mix well.3. Add soaked aval and stir gently so that aval gets mixed with the seasoning. Finally, add lemon juice and switch off.4. Roast peanuts in a teaspoon of oil until golden brown and then add it to lemon aval. Give a quick stir. Now, lemon aval is ready!
