Chocolate and banana make a classic flavor combination and results in a super moist cake. The cake can be served as breakfast, a snack, or dessert. Also, you don’t have to be a serious chocolate lover to enjoy this classic and tasty chocolate banana cake.
Usually, when I have ripe bananas, I will make dishes like banana fritters or malaysian banana fritters for snack. When it comes to baking, I would make banana bread or oatmeal banana cookie. For a change, I tried chocolate banana cake last week. My mom just loved it. If you think it is a complicated cake since it involves bananas and cocoa, no way! It all comes together in one large mixing bowl. It is that easy to bake this cake.
Just before you cut the cake, make sure you dip the knife in hot water. Since the cake is moist, the cake might break easily.
To make the cake even more rich, you can add chocolate chips or nuts of your choice. I have added sliced almonds, but it is optional. If you would like to decorate or enhance the sweetness of chocolate banana cake, you can frost it with chocolate ganache.
How to make chocolate banana cake:
1. In a large mixing bowl, using a fork mash the bananas well. Add the remaining ingredients.2. Preheat oven to 180 C or 350 F. Meantime, mix the batter well so that that are no lumps. Pour the batter into an 8 inch baking pan. Sprinkle sliced almonds.
3. Bake for 35 minutes or until the inserted toothpick comes out clean. Cool the cake completely. Dip the knife in hot water, and then slice the cakes into squares.Now, chocolate banana cake is ready!
- Instead of whole wheat flour, you can use all purpose flour or maida. If you use maida, cut off 1 tbsp water in the recipe.
- Instead of lemon juice, you can use vinegar.
